Matthew Matt James is a North Carolina native born on 5 December 1991. The child of Manny James, as well as Patty James of mixed race. His father is Nigerian as is his mother, who is caucasian American. In 2010, he graduated at Sanderson High School and furthered to Wake Forest University where he earned a bachelor's degree in Economics in 2015. James' fame kick-started when he filmed his debut on the reality show star in The Bachelorette. In 2020, he was picked to be the 25th season bachelor of The Bachelor, becoming the first African American lead. The series premiered in 2021. James is a great fit for this role as he's tall, handsome and humorous. Rachael Krukconnell was James's love interest towards the end of season. In the season 30 (in 2021) of Dancing with the Stars, he competed with famous dancing star Arnold. James along with Arnold finished 12th place.
